Hounds Bay Capital is a Traditional Searchfund (the first student-raised Search from NYU) formed to identify and acquire a promising company in the lower middle market of the United States.

Role Description

This is a remote unpaid Internship role with Hounds Bay Capital Partners. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with experienced professionals, enhancing your skills in various aspects of investment management. Your responsibilities will include supporting portfolio managers, research teams, and other functional areas in executing investment strategies and conducting market research. You will also assist with analyzing financial data, constructing financial models, and preparing reports and presentations. This internship offers the chance to learn the intricacies of deal-making while gaining a deeper understanding of investment fund operations.

Chase Team (Grad or Undergraduate)

This role is ideal for applicants seeking early exposure to ETA (Entrepreneurship through Acquisition) and lower middle market private equity. Your responsibilities will include assisting the team with research, outreach, deal flow, and fund support. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the mechanics and administration of a Searchfund.

Catch Team (Grad or Professional Equivalent)

This position is designed for applicants with a background in finance. Priority will be given to applicants with a strong command of financial modeling and analysis, particularly in LBO (Leveraged Buyout) modeling. Be prepared to provide input on an investment decision for a deal during the interview process. Each member of the Catch Team will manage 1-3 members of the Chase Team.

In this role, your primary responsibility will be to evaluate and qualify live deals throughout the duration of the internship. This hands-on experience will be invaluable for candidates committed to pursuing a career in ETA, as it will provide you with comprehensive expertise in the Searchfund model, preparing you for your own Search.


Hours

10, 15, 20, or 40 hours per week M-F based on intern availability.

Qualifications

the ability to work independently and within a remote team environment. Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Strong interest in ETA, Searchfunds, investment management, finance, and capital markets. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
