Curious to see if any investors or searchers in the network have used or considered utilizing management consultants on their acquired businesses? Of course, traditionally search fund protocols have suggested NOT making substantial changes to the business model, and most advisory has been given by investors themselves. However, with significant disruptions caused by COVID-19, based on hearsay from a few searchers, it appears most have been short on resources or needed assistance implementing transformations or cost cutting initiatives. To be clear, obviously hiring an MBB or Big 4 wouldn't be realistic from a cost standpoint, but perhaps independents or boutiques might be a consideration for short term projects?

I keep a list of "selected resources for lower-middle market private equity investors" that includes a
number of specialty consultants. With a previous investment we came close to hiring a consultant focused on the payments industry but then we ended up selling unexpectedly to a company that owned their own payment processor. In some cases consultants can be the key to a great outcome.
Happy to discuss further.
