There's been a few successful cases of transitioning popular Youtube channels to new owners and hosts, like Cocomelon, Blippi, etc. Aside from these well-known cases - Has anyone else done this successfully? I found an example where a 7-figure creator-led course business did successfully transition: https://acquiringminds.co/articles/dom-wells-onfolio-2 but i wonder if it's an exception... If you’ve bought or diligenced a YouTube channel — big or small — would really appreciate your insights. Thanks!

We’ve acquired a few YouTube channels as tuck in acquisitions. We also have do e due diligence on multiple mid-size channels. They require thorough technical due diligence and someone who understands the algorithm. It’s not just about finances because these platforms are monetize by Google Adsense and easy to track revenues. You need to consider video production process, video publication cadence, views per video trends, revenue per video vs types of videos, and much more. Here’s a quick LinkedIn post I did on youtube DD: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/mushfiqsarker_a-30-day-shelf-life-thats-the-challenge-activity-7359296528588419074-l065?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_ios&rcm=ACoAAAMmdj8BkSZTipIVur5kAZQk9xZMWG1_PZA If the channel is primarily creator-led, I would keep the creator/face of the brand on a minor equity position and pay them a salary as a Creative Head of the team. Often times, these folks love creating videos but hate everything else (editing, brand sponsors, scripting ads, etc). They just want to create. My 2 cents. Happy to share a sample DD report. It was a small deal and client was suggested to pass on the deal.

Have not been part of one but this is probably going to be a lot more commonplace moving forward. Definifely would require a similar but also some unique aspects to the due diligence process. Valuation would be interesting for sure.
