Be sure to note state-specific regulations on ownership permissions. Some states, like MN, do not permit dental practices to be owned by non-DDS folks. There are legal structures to circumvent this, such as starting a DSO, but if you don't already have a DSO you will need one to partner with.

Here's a nice primer on industry trends, both in the industry broadly and in related software specifically, that may help you evaluate your decisions here: https://medium.com/omers-ventures/dental-vertical-software-drilling-into-trends-and-opportunities-bcd422676a15

Hi ^redacted‌. I'm a former self-funded searcher, now the owner of a group of dental practices in Ontario and Healthcare M&A consultant. I understand the path you're on. I've provided consulting support to other searchers in the dental field and have been involved in more than 40 dental practice acquisitions as either principal or advisor. I'm based in Toronto, so geographically convenient for you. If you'd like to have a chat, you can reach me on Searchfunder or LinkedIn or at redacted . [Thanks ^redacted‌ for including me]
