I’ve been getting investments bank reaching out to me about deals that do an average of 20-50M in revenue. What are people experiences working on deals brought by investment banks? Is there anything I should watch out for? Are they any different from getting a deal from a broker?

David - When I was in PE, I worked on deals initiated by bankers. Happy to speak on it.

As a lawyer who works with both brokers and investment bankers, my view is this: investment banks typically cover a wider geographic area and have broader networks than most brokers. They can reach institutional and international buyers and usually run a more structured, sophisticated process. From a buyer’s perspective, there’s often little difference between a good broker and an investment bank–led deal. The real distinctions show on the seller’s side in how the deal is sourced, marketed, and prepared. For buyer, the main difference you could notice is a higher level of preparation and organization when an investment bank is involved.
