I will echo Louis Phillips comments above and, only speaking for my company, add that the rigor of deal diligence by us as an investment bank is an order of magnitude higher than a broker as we answer to SEC and FINRA and a supervisory broker dealer.

I've been on both sides. Worked in PE, bought companies from bankers, and now am back in investment banking. In summary, you'll get much cleaner deals from investment banks. They'll due a lot of internal diligence, so that they don't take on the risk of onboarding a client with critical flaws that would prevent the sale of the business. The downside is that it'll always be a competitive process, which means higher valuations. If you're a value buyer in a competitive process and you're winning the asset, you have to ask yourself what's wrong with it that it's trading that low in a competitive process...
