I am leading the take-private acquisition of a public company. I have $7M of the $10M I need committed. I am cold calling/emailing/LI DM'ing family office principals to raise the remaining $3M and it's working OK. But FO deals are done on relationships which are very hard to establish. I found this organization: https://www.dc-finance.com They put on events that FOs attend. I am wondering if anyone who has raised from FOs has attended, spoken at, or sponsored a private dinner with this organization. If so, was it worth it?

I have gone to a few. They tend to be quite FO focused as you mentioned. If you are talking about an equity check, I think you might be able to find some folks there, but it will be pretty hit or miss. Typically the FOs we meet there are big enough that they tend to allocate to third parties, or when they do direct investing they tend to have particular requirements (as they aren't regular search investors). More of the conversation is focused on education about search rather than the asset in question, if that makes sense. Happy to take a look at the opportunity if you like as well.

Thanks for the tag @redacted‌. We raise money from family offices. Events like these are hit and miss. However family offices have a wide range of money they have to invest. The offices managing amounts north of half a billion probably won't attend an event like this. Smaller offices will probably attend events like this because they are looking for deals and co-investors. I would attend the event.
