I am curious what are some good businesses priced between $700k and $1 million that one can buy? Opinions of an experienced person who has bought such a business will be constructive.

I would focus on businesses with a moat that will allow you to stay ahead during the owner transition.

1. Businesses with a purchase price of less to generate < 250K SDE. Likely Retail/Restaurants or low margin/difficult to scale businesses.

2. I would recommend considering a larger business whose owner is acceptable to seller financing (same work required just more $ at stake for you) or a business where you have minimal fixed cost leverage. At this smaller biz size, you will likely have to get your hands dirty and pitch in especially if the previous owner was also the day-to-day operator.

To directly answer your question - SW, mobile services (HVAC, carpet cleaning, detailing, etc)
