fundraising tools: are search funds alternative investments?

i focus on fundraising and investor relations and i'm coming across more and more online tools, e.g. https://www.investorintelligence.io/raise-fund, some of which are specifically targeted at alternative investment issuers.

First question: what is the consensus opinion on whether or not a search fund is an alternative investment?

Second question, if you used an onlne fundraising tool (such as the one above) how much of your fund did you raise with it?

Search Funds are alternative investments insofar as they are vehicles for private equity acquisitions. They are distinguished from public market securities.
