Full time vs Part time Controllers

I am evaluating taking on a controller, and am interested in experiences from this group on when part time is enough, if its better to hire direct or use a service, and whether or not you can spread one controller across a few firms. Any good stories out there? Any good people that you would recommend?

I think it depends on your size. There's also a potential opportunity to outsource to one of the startup controllers (think Pilot) who can do the books too
