While I don't subscribe to "change everything on day 1", I do agree that buyers should not be afraid to make changes. There are almost assuredly things that need to change and right now. People are commonly at the top of that list. When you determine that someone needs to go, do it. Keeping the wrong employee, especially a negative one will poison the culture. Do not let someone hold you hostage, even if that person is a "key employee." Will you pucker up - probably. But if you pucker isn't up to the task... probably should not be a buyer.
