Focused nurture program for selected targets.

I'm looking for input or if anyone has experience in nurture/sales process for a selected group of targets (companies). I've been running cold / automated email outreach over the past few months (in combination with other channels) - most of them are industry focused so typically broad, generic and covers a range of sizes. Over the past few months, I've identified a few industries that we like and potentially a handful of companies (~ 40 to 50) within them that we would like to nurture and hopefully acquire one day when they are ready. Has anyone had experience doing a focused nurture program for target companies? either through email or something more personalized? Did it work? Any considerations? Happy to chat over DM as well.
