When I'm fortunate enough to work closely with a new CEO during their first 1-2 years on the job, I often find myself discussing a recurring set of topics. This week, I've packaged five such topics into a single blog post, in hopes that something contained within catalyzes a necessary change for the reader. This week, I cover:

(1) How to craft an effective company-wide bonus plan
(2) How and where to spend your time as a CEO (including what to delegate)
(3) Why your prices are probably too low
(4) Why you're probably trying to accomplish too much; and
(5) Why your company probably needs a set of core values

Coming from the operating side, #1 really rings true. If done properly, you incentivize employees for the right behaviors and outcomes, rather than it becoming expected as part of normal course.
