Finding home services GMs?

Hey all--new to the community here, I'm currently operating a residential painting franchise and will be searching for a larger acquisition later this year. Not necessarily looking for a GM yet, but at a certain point I'll need to remove myself from the day-to-day of the painting company.

Who has had luck finding a great home services GM? How did you find them? Any tips or best practices?

Thanks!

Hi Joe, that's exciting. Congrats on the growth opportunity! Most people often think of providing equity incentives to GM's, but I recommend other structures such as a profits interest or other incentives through an employment agreement as GM's may come and go, and it's often better that such events don't disrupt the equity structure of the business. I'd be happy to discuss this further.

Hey, Joe. I haven't hired one myself, but one piece of advice I got from a home services business owner was to hire restaurant GMs. They are already in the customer service business mindset (as we all should be), know how to organize people, and are sometimes happy to step away from the restaurant industry.
