You can combine that with a focused effort on identifying: A: Industries you're interested in B: Geography (Calgary in your case) C: Companies that meet A/B D: Owners of C that are nearing retirement With that you can find yourself with a short list of people you want to get to know, whether it leads to an acquisition opportunity. Relationships are important. Nurture some that matter and people will help you find what you're looking for.
