What is an appropriate number or percent for a finders fee? I have heard various percentages based on transaction size and industry. I would like to hear this groups thoughts on what market is for a finders fee.

I've seen it vary based on the role the referral plays in the process. Lehman's gradual scale is fairly common, but doesn't mean you can structure something else different.
