They currently operate with a full-time staff of 17 employees, and they make use of contract labor which allows them to run up to 15 crews per day. The staff includes a general manager who runs all day-to-day activities; two field supervisors who stage, prepare and supervise jobs; a sales manager that oversees 4 other salespeople; several office employees handling customer service, purchasing and other items; and two warehouse workers that handle fabrication and staging. The owner stopped managing the business five years ago and lives out of state. As a result, revenue has declined in recent years and gross margins are significantly lower than comparable fencing businesses.
