Failed searchers, what did you do next?

Really curious of what you did after you failed to find a company and where you ended up / how you found the opportunity. thanks!

There are couple of podcasts that share stories of searchers who ended up not acquiring. I'd look up the "Acquiring Minds" and "In the Trenches" podcasts which have a couple of episodes on this topic. And to answer your question, searchers who don't acquire end up doing a wide variety of things. Some that come to mind immediately include: joining the c-suite at another organization, joining an investment firm, working on a startup, returning to their previous job.

I would assume you would have gotten some expertise in finding good deals and my might have built some good relationships in the industry. Would it be possible to look at larger deals that PE firms might be interested in and leverage that into getting a position at a firm with carry?
