Hi everyone — curious if anyone here has looked into industrial distribution businesses. I’m currently evaluating a sandblasting products distribution company and would love to connect with others who’ve explored similar businesses or adjacent sectors. What were your key takeaways in terms of growth levers, customer concentration risks, and operational complexity? Any insights, pitfalls, or resources you’d recommend would be much appreciated.

I worked in industrial distribution in the corporate world for years. It is a tough business because your vendors and customers are both essentially your customers and you need to keep both happy. You are also generally dealing with the small or high touch accounts that the supplier doesn't want to work with directly. As a result, providing exceptional service on deliveries, product availability and customer support is your primary value-add so you will normally not be the low-cost provider. Feel free to reach out.
