I am currently exploring a home modification business which serves the elderly/disabled population who choose to "Age in Place". I am looking to connect with anyone who may have experience working in or acquiring a contracting/home modification business. I do not personally have any personal experience as a contractor or builder. Any and all feedback is appreciated!

Hi Jay - I have experience in commercial multi-family general contracting. I think residential contractors have a lot to learn from their commercial counterparts, especially in terms of project planning and contracts. Homeowners' biggest complaints are that their renovations go over budget and over schedule. Most smaller GCs don't have strong contracts (if they have any at all). Developing strong capability of planning / budgeting AND coupling that with a good contract would likely be helpful to this business.

Jay, thanks for posting this! This is a space I've been looking at as well (TruBlue has an interesting model as a one-stop-shop for aging in place services). Would love to exchange notes. I'll send you a DM.
