Experience in Trucking Industry

Hi all - I'm doing due diligence on a potential acquisition in the aftermarket truck parts industry. The CEO told us that they have faced issues lately due to a collapse in trucking demand, and I am wondering if anyone has experience in or adjacent to that industry that would be willing to talk.

I have a couple clients in the trucking business and have had conversations with owners in the trucking/logistics industry. This is how it has been explained to me: Tariffs and high interest rates have reduced the demand for purchases which means that companies aren't ordering so the volume of shipping/freight has decreased. This means that trucks aren't being used as much so there's less wear/tear and companies are replacing/repairing less. What type of truck parts are you speaking about: private use passenger vehicles or commercial/semi trucks?

Trucking always has been a highly cyclical business. In recent years, the entire industry has been heavily overextended, with companies often quadrupling their fleets. Now, as road-freight is returning to pre-pandemic levels (and lower due to tariffs) there's a wave of bankruptcies and sell-offs. I'm working with two friends who are building software for trucking companies. Still early in the research phase, but happy to talk a week out from now.
