Any advice on the best way to search at the EBITDA level? Any suggested best sources to use? IBISWorld is good in generating the overall universe of companies, just limited when it comes to drill down. Or what is your high level approach to approximately coming up with an EBITDA range using other publicly available metrics?

You generally won't be able to find info on a company's margins without hearing it from them directly. (This assumes you're not in a geo with mandated disclosures e.g. UK's Companies House). You may be able to come to a reasonable estimate of revenue based on their headcount, but unless you already have a good sense of a particular industry's margin structure, there are typically too many variables to filter a search directly on estimated EBITDA. Filtering based on info you can find more easily, like headcount, which can be a decent indicator of revenue in certain sectors, is probably your best bet.

I don't think I understand your question. Are you trying to determine the typical EBITDA of companies within an industry, or find companies that fit an EBITDA range you want (or something else)?
