Currently evaluating buying a franchise but would love something that’s profitable today.

John, highly recommend against franchises like ServPro. At scale, you'll be doing 15-20% net margin. Franchises take a 4-7% cut off the top so you can do the math. The value-add is pretty limited imo, given that they're taking a third of your profits every year w/o doing much.

I'm a little more bullish on Servpro vs. other franchisees, both within restoration and relative to other industry sectors. The purchase is predominately made quickly and emergently, where brand equity matters, or through a referral provided by the carrier where the claim is made, where scale matters to negotiate contracts with the franchisor for the benefit of the franchisee. In both cases, Servpro does fairly well. Happy to discuss.
