Does anyone know if it is mandatory to have an SSN to register the SF?

Our current lawyer is not too much familiar with Search Funds, and during our last meeting, he said the immigration rules recently changed in the US, and without an SSN, we may not succeed in registering our Search Fund (LLC). He said we need an SSN to obtain the FEIN and he recommended for us to ask a friend for his/her SSN. Thanks,

Not true. non-ssn holders can register llcs, c corps etc and get FEINs by literally writing "FOREIGN" in the ssn/itin box on the ss-4 form.

Accurate as of `~6 months ago when I registered a holding company (I now have an SSN and used that to register my SF).
