Does anyone have some advice for an incoming associate?

I am taking part in a search in the coming months and would love to hear some pointers or pitfalls to avoid while dialing. I have a great deal of experience cold calling, but I am looking to maximize my output.

Coming up with a compelling story about us as a buyer, an using it as the email body when reaching out to brokers / potential sellers increased the response rate for us.

I recently heard some advice that positioning yourself as a "small family investment firm" opens more doors than as a searcher. A searcher told me he funded a bank account with lots of his families cash (took a picture and then moved it back) which helped him get past certain gatekeepers by providing proof of dry powder.
