Does anyone have experience working with industry experts during due diligence? Is there a place to find industry experts or is it mostly relationship based?

Operators: Try to find operators in that space. Former searchers can be helpful Brokers / Ibankers: Try to find a firm that has a focus on the target industry. If you tell them you have a deal under LOI they will take you more seriously. Some may ignore you, though Former Employees: You’ll want to speak with some former employees. You’ll want to be under LOI to do this Expert Networks: You can use GLG or other similar expert network services. May be cost prohibitive for a searcher, though

Expert networks (GLG, Alphasights) tend to have broad networks, but are pretty expensive (1k per hour min). Cold outreach in LinkedIn may be more cost effective (that's how they source when they don't have an expert handy), particularly if you have interns
