Does anyone have experience with physicians working in PE/VC?

I'm curious if it is somewhat common. for physicians (MDs) to work in private equity or venture capital? Do they tend to get MBAs as well? I'm currently a student at Rice interested in medicine but also interested in finance and the intersection of the two.

Can't speak for PE/VC but I was an equity research analyst for a large mutual fund company for a long time and we had a lot of former MDs who switched their career into finance.
