Does anyone have experience with equipment hire businesses?

I'm looking at an equipment hire business.

I'd like to understand key considerations about how to successfully operate this type of business.How important is it to have a base of pro customers who regularly hire tools for their construction work vs DIYers who need equipment on an infrequent basis.

What are the key drivers of profitability? What should I be thinking about with respect to competition and location?

Any insights or links to resources would be appreciated.
