I am considering selling off one of our business units and I'd like to speak to another operator who has gone through this in the past to better understand how to prep the unit for sale and what to expect during the process.

Administrative and/or operational infrastructure not dedicated to the carve out are typically the issues. In planning for divestiture, sort out how i.) insurance; ii.) health benefits; iii.) employee benefit plans; iv.) computer hardware & software licenses; v.) shared supply arrangements, ETC will be sorted out prior to deal launch. It often takes time to come up with a plan, and most likely the cost of insurance and employee benefits will increase for Newco which will affect the valuation.
