Does anyone have experience in rolling up independent insurance companies?

Looking to purchase a handful of local/regional insurance firms that do property and auto. Any pointers, suggestions, issues to keep any eye on related to these type of firms? what are the current multiples? best deal structures? thanks.

Hi Debra, although I haven't been running an insurance company, my company worked with them in automotive insurance area. One of the trends (at least it was hot few years ago) - prediction of driver's performance using telematics. I believe if your company knows how to price well auto insurance vs drivers risks - it could be a nice business.
