You probably are well aware of this, but funding for these transactions can be tough to come by. Even the largest energy private equity firms with 25%+ returns are experiencing a tremendous amount of difficulty fundraising at the moment.

Since 2015, many searchers I know have avoided energy due to volatility and difficulty obtaining debt financing. That being said, there are a lot of small energy service businesses with aging owners and no succession plan.
