When we conduct a search on behalf of buyers we usually send out a letter to all the businesses that fit their criteria. We have found it to be more efficient when we provide some guidance regarding valuation multiples in that letter. For example, "Our clients are seeking opportunities within the ____ sector and are willing to pay ____ times SDE/EBIDTA" etc.

I have a couple of emails and LinkedIn connection requests that I send. It depends on what industry you're targeting and how many channels you're reaching out through. Ideally, you'd be testing several templates to see what gets the best OR (open rate) and RR (response rate)
