We are looking at a deal that utilizes their 8(a) status to win government contracts. We will not be eligible for an 8(a) status as buyers so we'd like to speak with anyone that has transitioned out of 8(a) and been successful doing so.

Feel free to shoot me a DM!

Thank you!

I worked in GovCon M&A for many years and would say be very careful. 8a contracts are terminated for the convenience of the government upon change of control unless SBA grants a waiver. Termination and award to a new contractor can happen very fast if your 8a work was awarded through multi-award contracts where the government can re-issue a task order for competition quickly to the remaining 8a-eligible pool. If the work is highly differentiated and was awarded through a single award contract you may have more time. Happy to chat if helpful.
