Does any one have experience with "permanent equity" opportunities?

Looking to talk to others who have thought through or invested in opportunities that were “permanent equity” vs. 3-7 year exit opportunities. We have put together a holding company that targets small manufacturers and assemblers (.5 to 2.5 million EBITDA) that support electrical infrastructure. We see electrical transmission and distribution as a 30-year investment opportunity.
