Do you default to using the owner's first name in cold emails?

The situation is different for me as I'm just an intern but for the more seasoned searchers: what is your go-to way of addressing the owner in a cold email or letter?

Dear first name. Try to personalize it as much as possible. If you use snail mail make sure you write the outside of the letter handwritten yourself. Its a plus if you're local as they will identify with you more than non locals. I do it all the time and it works great.

Everytime I get a "Mr. Bobal..." cold email I cringe a little and think of the time I was much younger and started cold emailing. I emailed someone for coffee and he jokingly yelled at me when we met up - "I'm not 'Mr. Smith'...that's my dad!!"
