Difference between traditional / self funded

What’s the difference? Other than you get a salary etc with traditional. Assume you are not using any personal capital or loans while doing self funded , is it essentially the same?

Do you still need to parade the deal to 15 investors? Or technically could one investor cover the entire acquisition with self funded?
