Is anyone having success sourcing deals from cold email outreach and/or sending letters to company directors?

I'm reading about some anecdotal successes but I would love to hear key learnings from either approach.

Shaun, I can't speak on that specific outreach method, but I have had some success with the annoying LinkedIn outreach (met the owner of an international $400M company interested in selling) and with cold calls. It obviously gets more difficult the larger the company is, but you never know who is going to pick up the phone or be in the office. Hiring a friendly voice could be a low-cost approach. I called some random companies in the area last month and got the owner of a $20M business on the phone who is interested in selling and met with the owner of a small franchise who just happened to also be the CFO/part owner of a $40M payment systems company with a plan to sell in the next few years.

We have experienced a good amount of success with targeted outreach to potential targets. Be sure to be specific with your outreach, and have a well thought out thesis you can explain once you start conversations with a target from this sourcing strategy.
