Curious to hear from others who have had success doing consulting work or taking on operator roles while searching. What worked? What didn't?

BLUF - the search is a full time job. If you need the cash flow then of course consulting is a great way to supplement, though unless you're flooded with inbound consulting requests it's also a slog to find gigs, onboard, execute, find more gigs, etc. All of which takes away from the ability to search.

I recently closed an acquisition, but I have been doing consulting work to pay the bills for a few years as well, in fact one of my consulting clients is considering expansion by acquisition and I am helping him navigate that, though its in a very different field than my acquisition.
