Committed equity before you find a deal: looking for searchers for our EIR program
Hi all. I’m Andrew Hippert, MD at Acquisition Lab Capital. We back acquisition entrepreneurs buying $1–2M SDE businesses with SBA 7(a) financing, and we’re adding a few more searchers to our Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) program.
The problem we’re solving
Most of you know the cycle. Brokers want proof of funds before they’ll share the good deals. Investors want to see a deal before they commit. Self-funded searchers get stuck in the middle, competing for smaller deals than they could actually run.
What the EIR program does
Binding $500K+ equity commitment before you’ve found a deal. It’s a contractual commitment, not a support letter, so brokers and lenders can rely on it from day one.
1:1 deal support from search through close. That covers underwriting stress tests, structure, lender intros, and project management of the financing through closing day.
Preferred SBA lender network and deal team. This includes our loan brokerage partners, QoE providers, legal, and insurance.
A post-close back office. Accounting, finance, IT, HR, and a fractional CFO through SMB Edge.
You keep majority ownership, typically 70–80%+. The model is operator-led, not investor-controlled.
How to join
The program is open to Acquisition Lab members. Apply at acquisitionlab.com/contact and mention EIR on your strategy call. You can also DM me here (or email me at redacted with questions about structure. I’m happy to walk through how the economics actually play out on a real deal.
