Hey all - thinking of hiring a chief of staff for my SMB, any thoughts on compensation? This is a $1-2 mm EBITDA tech enabled services business, 15 employees, and I'be a good boss :). Idea would be to come work here for two years and then maybe do a search, or whatever else you wanted to do.

a nice package could be something like: $150k base, 50 bps equity vested at achievement of $1.5m ltm ebitda, 50 bps vested at $2.5m ltm, 50 bps vested at $3.5m ltm. allow cos to participate in any cash flow distributions via vested amount

Big variable for comp is scope - are they driving P&l and growth (comp should reflect that) or more operations heavy? For MA, $130k-160k (latter being mid/high not top of range), plus 15-25% perf bonus and/or equity or profit share. Sounds like you’d also provided mentoring, too, potentially, which is always a bonus. Happy to share more perspective if helpful.
