We are now hiring a high-impact Chief of Staff to work directly with the Founder & CEO, professionalise the organisation, and drive execution excellence across the portfolio. ROLE OVERVIEW The Chief of Staff will serve as the CEO’s strategic and operational right hand, focused on creating a high-performance organisation across multiple portfolio companies. This role blends operational leadership, strategic execution, and the ability to act as a proxy CEO on critical workstreams. This is not a deal execution role. The emphasis is on value creation, operational improvement, and execution discipline. Reports to: CEO Location: Office-based KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Portfolio Operations & Performance Management • Partner with leadership teams to identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvements. • Strengthen KPIs, reporting systems, and operating rhythms across all portfolio companies. • Track, analyse, and communicate performance metrics to ensure visibility and accountability. • Ensure management teams deliver consistently against operational, financial, and commercial targets. 2. Strategic & Growth Initiatives • Lead cross-portfolio projects that drive growth, efficiency, or transformation. • Support the rollout of new business lines, service expansions, pricing improvements, and digital/technology initiatives. • Conduct market analysis and strategic reviews to guide decision-making and resource allocation. 3. Proxy CEO & Execution Lead • Act as a trusted deputy to the CEO, representing them in key meetings, workstreams, and initiatives. • Provide structure, clarity, and follow-through on the CEO’s strategic priorities. • Support alignment across management teams and ensure initiatives are executed with discipline and focus. 4. Professionalisation of Portfolio Operations • Introduce best-in-class operating systems, processes, dashboards, and reporting frameworks. • Create structure and discipline in how portfolio companies plan, execute, and review performance. • Close capability gaps through coaching, training, and implementing scalable, repeatable processes. • Elevate leadership behaviours and managerial standards across all businesses. 5. Performance Culture & Execution Discipline • Drive a culture of accountability, intensity, and high performance across the organisation. • Establish clear goals, milestones, and performance expectations for managers and teams. • Build a “commitment culture” focused on ownership, urgency, and results. • Reinforce operational rigor through structured planning cycles, regular operating reviews, and data-driven performance management. • Serve as the CEO’s execution enforcer, ensuring focus, alignment, and strong follow-through across all companies. 6. Organisational Development & Continuous Improvement • Enhance communication, decision-making processes, and cross-company coordination. • Support leadership hiring, onboarding, and development across the group. • Develop, refine, and maintain a scalable operating playbook for future acquisitions. 7. CEO Leverage & Special Projects • Prepare board materials, strategy papers, operational deep dives, and CEO briefings. • Manage confidential or time-sensitive special projects on behalf of the CEO. • Act as a multiplier increasing the CEO’s effectiveness and bandwidth. CANDIDATE PROFILE Must-Have • Generalist consulting background preferred (MBB, Oliver Wyman, Accenture Strategy, LEK, EY-Parthenon, etc.). • Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects with strong execution discipline. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Experience of operational improvement, transformation, or value creation. Nice-to-Have • Exposure to private equity, portfolio operations, or multi-site operational businesses. • Experience within healthcare, social care, construction, or other operational sectors. • Prior experience as a Chief of Staff, Strategy Manager, Operational Lead or similar high-impact role.
