It's been a minute since I posted so figured I'd resurface. I'm in West Town full time, working full time at Cisco in Chicago. A lot of my time lately has gone to fault managed power and Class 4 work, which has gotten me interested in the smart buildings space more broadly. It's a good area for electrical contractors, and especially low voltage contractors, to get up to speed on. If anyone here is operating, searching, or investing in that world, Chicago or nationally, I'd like to connect. Curious whether there's anything acquirable in or around it. Sticking to Chicagoland for now on the search, but happy to talk to anyone anywhere on the smart buildings side. Other update, earlier this year I bought a mixed use building on the commercial corridor on Chicago Ave. First purchase. Being a new landlord has been a good experience and a fast education. Still building out my bench of contractors for this one and for future purchases, so if you're a Chicago-area GC or trade contractor, or you know good ones, I'd like to meet them. Always open to a partner too, on commercial or residential real estate or on a business in the Chicago area. Searching solo while working full time has been tough but a great experience.
