CEO BizDev Routine

Just watched Julian Edelman (Patriots Pro Bowl Wide Receiver) talk about the importance of sticking to disciplined routines in order to get to the next level / be the best--he gleaned much of his learning from the legend Tom Brady. I find as a CEO I'm constantly allowing myself to get distracted by tasks that seem important at the time but don't necessarily contribute to my company's scale and growth. I want to delegate all of this nonsense and commit to a daily growth routine.

Some of the items I've thought about committing to a daily/weekly routine:
1. Connect with 20 target leads a day on LinkedIn
2. 1 hour per day writing or creating content
3. Pipeline Management / Follow Ups
4. Deeping Channel Partner Relationships
5. Current Customer Check-In and Referral Networking
6. Marketing Plan Updates and Team Delegation
7. Conferences???

These are obviously just general buckets, but for the externally minded CEO's out there, would love to hear your collective wisdom.

A follow on question is any success with sales coaches and any referrals there. I always been proud of my ability to sell, but having a layer of CEO accountability here would be welcome.

Many Thanks!

Nick

Insightful post! One thing I will add to this is an interesting statement that Tom Brady made last night during his telecast which is the discipline of making the right/good decisions during the process of growing as a team/organization. As to your post, my inclination is for the CEO to be more customer facing and thus finding the right routine to maximize customer engagement is important. Delegating most of daily routines to an internal resource will make more sense.

I like that Tom Brady insight, we say at at Sure Oak, it's more important to make a good decision great rather than trying to make a great decision. Or as Saban puts it to focus on process over outcome.
