CASE NOTE ON BLACK SELF-FUNDED SEARCHER
Ahron Oddman was torn and flagging from riding the emotional roller coaster that is a self-funded search. He slouched in his Wilmington, North Carolina office, perplexed about what to do next. Although he thought he was close to the proverbial finish line, he clearly was not there yet. In November 2019, Oddman had been just weeks from closing an acquisition of a small business when an unforeseen snag with his bank loan delayed his projected closing date by two months. Oddman worried that if he did not close soon, the seller of Presentation System South, Inc. would consider him unable to do so and pursue other options for the business sale.
