Canada vs. US for first acquisition - real input wanted
Sourcing in Canada via email outreach, gaining traction with sellers so far some to small some to big. Heading to Carl Allen's Dealmaker Summit in Atlanta in September for the network, not his Protege course upsell — SearchFunder's given me better signal than any real paid content.
Not looking to chase the US just because it sounds bigger trying to make this decision with a clear head for the long term
1. E-2 visa needs ~$100K+ invested. I have that available. Still — worth pursuing now, or close 1-2 deals in Canada first and expand once I have a track record?
2. Decided to go through some acquisition sales funnels to see if there's a real blueprint for Canadians to get into the states without the SBA. What they told me was "we have the right people to lend for you in our community" or "you just have to know the right people." Sounded like a sales hook.
Canadians who've actually financed a US deal what was the real capital stack? Seller note? Private lenders?
Canadians who chose to stay and grow domestically instead what made you stick with Canada over expanding south?
Open to 15 min with anyone who can shed light on both sides.
Thank you guys
