Can one do a SF while at MBA and being far from target country?

Hi! I am at the middle of my MBA and would love to kickstart my search. However, I am in a different continent than where I'd do my search. Anyone know if it's possible (or what is possible)? I'd love any tips.

Hey Ian - I also started as INSEAD. Lucky me, it only took one extended weekend away from school to meet brokers and one of them gave me several really interesting targets.

I referred one of them to another search fund in region and they ended up acquiring it (check Continuum here on Searchfunder). The one I was interested in ended up before signing LOI as we got stuck on WC levels...

Another advantage - all the databases you have access to as mentioned above and all the network that supports you... you can even create a team of classmates for REP class and they can help you with the deal flow... we can talk more if you want redacted

I would say it depends on the phase of the SF were you are at.
- Being at INSEAD is perfect to start your project, look and secure Investors, prepare your LLC with attorney and plan for next step. However, when starting the search phase you need to be available 24/7 to meet with brookers, owners and visit the companies and this is hardly doable if in a different continent, not to mention even the costs this would involve.
- Moreover, searching locally will be a challenge, e.g. search on the French market whilst not being French yourself will be a real challenge (check UK if you like that would be it I think).
