What fees do buyside advisors typically charge to help searchers acquire a company in the $1-10M of enterprise value range?

I've heard a wide range quoted, both in terms of the monthly retainer and the success fee, so it'd be helpful to understand what fees others' have actually paid and whether they thought it was worth it.
