Buy-side advisor to support search process

Has anybody considered hiring a buy-side advisor to support the search process in addition to a proprietary outreach? If so interested in knowing what the compensation scheme was.

Sorry to resurrect an oldie thread. I've noticed a fairly fragmented market for brokers and deals at least in the Boise area here. I think I will just approach sell brokers of past sold deals or similar deals to what I'm looking for and keep them in the loop of what I'm looking for.

There are a lot of different structures, it really depends on what you're looking for in support - monthly retainer + success fee like ^Searchfunder member‌ mentioned, success fee without retainer like ^Searchfunder member‌ mentioned, consultation in exchange for equity, etc. I've worked on structuring a number of these if you need support on the legal side.
