Building my search network in SoCal

Hey everyone, My name is Adam Avitabile, based in San Diego, where I currently lead Strategic Sourcing for a public medtech company. I’ve spent the last several years working in larger public companies and managing portfolio businesses with a PE firm - driving supplier partnerships, M&A integrations, and cost optimization initiatives and now I intend to use that same analytical and operational rigor into a personal search to build something I can have my kids grow into and someday that the reigns for businesses that I can acquire, essentially a micro PE/Family Office mentality at a much smaller size and scope. My focus is on acquiring a small, high-integrity business with $200K–$500K SDE, ideally in light manufacturing, services, distribution, or niche B2B trades across Southern California. I’m self-funding part of the equity and pursuing SBA and conventional structures, depending on the deal. As a U.S. Navy veteran, bonus points if there are opportunities to leverage SDVOSB certification for future growth, particularly around government contracting. I’m looking to connect with: - Lenders and SBA specialists who fund first timers doing what I'm looking to do (I don't have a home to use as collateral, as my ex-wife got the house! But I got the cash, so I am able to fund a down payment, no problem.) - M&A attorneys and CPAs who move fast and know small business deals inside and out. - Fellow searchers and operators who’ve navigated this process and are open to sharing lessons learned or interested in partnering in something fun. I’m happy to trade notes, offer sourcing insights, or just connect with others building something meaningful for the long term. I'm looking to close near end of Q1 (I have an equity vesting event in Q1 I don't want to miss out on) so I can take an owner-operator role initially, but able and willing to move sooner for the right opportunity.
