I am looking for an efficient way to meet brokers in a targeted area. Does anyone have any methods to get lists of serious brokers? I have run into issues with gathering info on who all is in the market and have been relying on bizbuysell listings for info with little success.

Going to the websites of brokers on bizbuysell is a start, check IBBA website, and google. My advice is to bookmark sites that are well put together and check their sites once a week. If you want, email the broker your buying criteria and sign up for their newsletter or ask to be sent previews of things in your buying criteria. There are a lot of buyers so don't ask for a meeting to intro yourself. It will come off as you not understanding the broker's focus. If something comes up that fits you, we'll be happy to talk to a buyer and will try to reach out to you before it even goes live. Also, please don't send them messages like this one I received the other day "do you have any new businesses for sale? Looking for $1-3M of EBITDA in range of industries. Can you please CIMs to me" To me this says "I didn't bother to look at your website with everything listed because my time is more valuable than yours"

We run a community called Business Broker HQ has about 1700 members and are in the process of building a searchable directory of brokers across North America. It's not done yet, but if you let me know where you are focusing your search, I can check and see if we have any members in your area.
