I run an accounting firm focused on psychologists and counselors. A few times a year, we have owners considering selling. Are there brokers who actively specialize in this niche? I currently have an owner looking for a third-party valuation/opinion of value and would appreciate any referrals.

Hi Mark, It really depends on the size and structure of the practice. For smaller group practices, you’ll typically see deals land in the 3x to 5x EBITDA range. As the business scales and becomes less owner-dependent, that range can move up to roughly 4x to 6x EBITDA. If the buyer is a private equity platform or a larger strategic group, multiples can be higher, often in the 7x to 10x EBITDA range, depending on growth, infrastructure, and scalability. For solo therapists, counselors, or psychologists, valuation is usually based on SDE rather than EBITDA, and tends to fall closer to 2x to 3x SDE, since the business is more directly tied to the owner. I should note, I’m not a broker and don’t set pricing. We specialize in healthcare quality of earnings, so this perspective is based on what we see in actual transactions and how buyers are underwriting these deals. Happy to talk through this further if helpful. redacted qoeprep.com

Hi @redacted‌, I sent you a message through Search Funder with a list of mental health practices that were sold with SBA Loans. It shows things like what the buyer paid, revenue, SDE, and location. Hope it's helpful and glad to connect sometime, my email... redacted
